Caravan Privacy Policy

Last updated

Caravan ("Walking Adventure - Caravan" on the App Store) is built by trulyoffline. This policy explains what Caravan does with your data. The short version: your health data never leaves your iPhone, and the only thing that does is an anonymous record of what you bought.

Your health data

Caravan reads three things from Apple Health, only after you allow it: your walking and running distance, your steps, and the flights of stairs you climbed. It never writes to Apple Health and never asks for anything else: no location, no contacts, no heart rate, no workouts.

Your distance moves the camel along the road. Everything is worked out on your iPhone: your road, the places you reached, your treasures, medals and weekly stories. This lives in the app's own storage on your iPhone. Caravan never uploads it, and it is not stored in iCloud. It is included in your normal iPhone backups only if you have backups turned on.

You can change what Caravan may read at any time in the Health app (your profile › Apps › Caravan) or in Settings › Privacy & Security › Health. When you delete the app, everything it kept on your iPhone is erased.

Notifications

The notifications Caravan sends (a place coming up on your road, your Sunday story, your Year Wrapped) are made and scheduled on your iPhone. No notification server is involved.

Sharing

When you share a story or a postcard, you choose where it goes. The image is made on your iPhone and handed to the app you pick through the standard iOS share sheet, or straight to Instagram Stories if you choose that. Caravan does not upload anything by itself. Numbers can be hidden from share cards in Settings.

Purchases (Caravan Pro)

Caravan is free to use. Caravan Pro is an optional in-app purchase, available as a monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase.

Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Caravan uses RevenueCat, a purchase-management service, to confirm purchases and restore them on your other devices. For this, RevenueCat receives:

  • a randomly generated, anonymous identifier for your installation of the app (not your name, email or Apple Account);
  • your purchase and subscription history for Caravan (product, dates, renewal state);
  • basic device information Apple attaches to purchases (device model, iOS version, App Store country).

This is the only data Caravan sends automatically. It is not linked to your identity, is not used for advertising or tracking, and is never combined with your health data, which RevenueCat never sees.

In Apple's App Store privacy label this appears as Purchases › Purchase History, used for app functionality and analytics, not linked to you, not used to track you. Here "analytics" means RevenueCat's overall purchase numbers; Caravan itself contains no analytics code.

Contacting us

If you write to us from Settings › Contact us, the email opens with a few lines filled in so we can help: the app version, your iPhone model and iOS version, your plan, your current road and chapter, your language, and the anonymous purchase ID above. They are in plain sight before you send, and you can delete any of them. They never include your health data, distances or walking dates.

What we do not collect

No account, no ads, no tracking, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers and no location. Caravan suggests a first road from your iPhone's region setting, which never leaves your iPhone.

Children's privacy

Caravan does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy
