Hello, trulyoffline

Offline iPhone apps that keep your data on your device: why we are building trulyoffline, a family of private iOS apps with no cloud, accounts or tracking.

Why we exist

There's a quiet assumption built into most software today: your data will live on someone else's computer. Your messages, your voice recordings, your notes, your searches: they travel to a server, get processed, get stored, and sometimes get shared in ways you never agreed to.

We think there's a better way.

trulyoffline is a family of iOS apps that work entirely on your device. Not "mostly on-device." Not "on-device with anonymous analytics." Entirely, verifiably on your device.

What "truly offline" means

When we say offline, we mean it literally. Our apps make no network requests for their core work; you can check in Airplane Mode or with App Privacy Report. There's no analytics SDK. No crash reporter that phones home. No "anonymous usage data" that somehow still includes your device ID.

The result is software that works identically whether you're connected to Wi-Fi, on a flight, in a subway tunnel, or standing in a field with no cell signal. Because there's nothing to connect to.

This isn't a limitation. It's the feature.

The first app

We're starting with Nashi, a private AI chatbot that runs a large language model directly on your iPhone. Every conversation stays on your device. It uses llama.cpp to run inference locally on your device: no servers, no accounts, no telemetry. You download a model once, and then it's yours.

ScribeKit, an offline voice transcription app that ships with a speech model inside the app, is next. For therapists, lawyers, journalists, or anyone who records conversations that aren't theirs to share, it's the difference between privacy as a marketing claim and privacy as an architecture.

Nashi is a one-time purchase. No subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no upgrade tiers.

How we charge

We pay for no servers, so you never pay for servers. What you pay for is the app itself and the work of keeping it good: new models, new features, and every iOS release that changes the rules.

Where an app is simple, that is a one-time price, like Nashi. Where an app needs ongoing model work and a wider feature set, like ScribeKit, the core stays free and a Pro tier pays for the rest. You can pay for Pro monthly or yearly, or once for life if you prefer to own it outright. Every app in the family will always have a price you can pay once.

Either way the app keeps working. If we stopped maintaining one someday, it would still run, because it never depended on our infrastructure in the first place.

What's next

We're planning more apps in the trulyoffline family: utilities that respect the same principles. Each one will be a bet that people will pay a fair price for software that actually respects them.

If you believe your phone should work for you, not for an ad network, not for a data broker, and not for a server you've never seen, we're building this for you.

We'll be writing here about privacy, offline-first design, the technical decisions behind our apps, and what we're building next. No newsletter signup required. Just check back, or subscribe to our RSS feed.

Welcome to trulyoffline.
